Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Zach Randolph scored 22 points with 13 rebounds to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 97-89 win over the Indiana Pacers on Friday. Marc Gasol, coming off a career-high 32 points in Memphis season-opening win over Minnesota, deposited 20 points with six rebounds. Mike Conley added 17 points in the win. It was all defense for us, Conley said. The defense got the stops that we needed them to and we got out in transition to get some easy buckets. Chris Copeland came off the bench to score 16 points, while CJ Miles and Donald Sloan contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively, for Indiana, which opened the season with a 103-91 win over Philadelphia. We are playing hard, said Miles. We have a lot of new faces plus injuries so its going to take some time, but we will be all right. Indiana built its halftime lead to 13 when Roy Hibbert converted a bank shot, then Memphis embarked on a 26-2 run to take a 74-63 lead. Conley opened the surge with a pair of free throws and Randolph scored five straight points to cap it with 2:24 to go in the third. The Pacers made their first three shot attempts in the period, but they went 3-for-15 over the final nine minutes and committed six turnovers. Memphis led 78-67 heading into the fourth. The Grizzlies margin was cut to eight with 4:12 to play, then Gasol made a tough hook shot and Conley followed with a wing 3-pointer to make it 93-80 just under a minute later. Earlier, Memphis held its opponent to 38.9 percent from the field and forced six turnovers over the first 12 minutes, but they managed to only lead 23-19 after the first quarter. Indiana, however, used a 23-5 run bridging the first two quarters to take a 37-28 lead following Copelands transition layup at the midway point of the second. The Pacers shot much better in the second, going 14-of-21 (66.7 percent) from the field, and took a 53-45 advantage into the locker room at half. Game Notes Memphis guard Courtney Lee suffered an apparent head injury late in the second quarter after inadvertently taking a knee from Hibbert to the back of the head.
